Every day on VentureApp, people chat with their business network about various topics and we host Office Hours, giving our users a unique opportunity to connect one-on-one with influencers, experts, entrepreneurs, and investors. Here’s what we’re chatting about today…
Happy President’s Day. The market is closed but there’s a lot being discussed on VentureApp, including…
Chat of the Day – Uber sexual harassment
This weekend a former Uber engineer, Susan Fowler, documented her experience with sexual harassment while working at the popular ride sharing company. Since posting her blog, Arianna Huffington, board member at Uber, is now launching an independent investigation into Uber’s handling of sexual harassment claims.
Diversity in tech, specifically the need to increase the number of female engineers in the tech industry, has been a hot button topic for the past few years, and for good reason. Today on VentureApp, we’re inviting community members to chat about the culture at Uber and other tech giants, which companies handle it well and which don’t, and how to handle harassment in the work place.
Innovation for All
At VentureApp, we are trying to make the innovation economy more accessible to a larger population of people. Much of our potential future economic growth will come from the innovation economy, which can be a large driver of job creation, and we must lower the barriers for outsiders to join our community. In order to do so, we invite members to host “Office Hours” on our platform each week in which they agree to hold 1v1 chats with VentureApp community members. Topics can range from how to build a prototype, to what kind of skills you need to sell software, to fundraising guidance.
If you’re interested in helping us bring the benefits we all see from our community to a larger group, please take 30 seconds to fill out this form to host an Office Hour.
All of our Office Hours this week are with successful founders & CEOs giving you access to some of the best in business in Boston. Get your questions ready around all things startup: founding a company, startup operations, recruiting, marketing & growth tips, etc. They’re excited to chat with you.
